The article includes a new chart that breaks down the performance since 1950, over the past 20 years, 10 years, and 5 years. When looking at the overall performance of June, we see that in the past it has been slightly negative, but in the near term, the past five and ten years, June has been a positive month. This shows that in recent years, May has been negative, with a slight positive rebound in June, followed by a stronger rebound in July, and then a drop off in August.

In the past, May is known for the old adage of “sell in May and go away,” but as we can see, if you followed that advice, you would have missed out on the strong rebound in June and July. We have always suggested that while you can make money by selling in May, don’t actually go away!
